Information

Field Trials
The Club holds Field Trials, licensed by The Kennel Club, at various locations around the country each year. Many of them are open to all the Hunt, Point, and Retrieve breeds of dog. A schedule listing the trials is published in the forms section on the Information and Events page in June or July each year. Entry forms and the Club Standing Instructions may be found on the same page.

Pointing Tests
Pointing Tests are normally held each spring. Results of these events can be seen on the Results Page. A schedule listing the tests is published in the forms section on the Information and Events page at the beginning of the year. Entry and Logistics forms, together with Guidelines may be found on the same page.

Working Test
A Working test is arranged every year in July at Gill Mill, Ducklington Oxfordshire. Results of this event, when posted, can be seen on the Results page. A schedule is published on the Information and Events page. Entry forms and the Club Standing Instructions may be found on the same page.

Training Days
Subject to demand the Club arranges one or two training days each October,  for those members who wish to put the finishing touches to their dogs under field trial conditions. Entry is open to all members, though preference is given to GLP’s. Helpful instructors are on hand each day to give advice as necessary. These days are not a competition and dogs will not be eliminated. Handlers can expect a number of runs and up to two birds shot over their dogs.  Details of upcoming training days will be found on the Information and Events page.

Seminar
From time to time the Club runs a seminar on a topic related to German Longhaired Pointers.  Details are published on the Information and Events page.

Game Fair
Game Fairs are held at different locations around the country each summer and the German Longhaired Pointer Club is asked to attend with dogs to take part in the Parade of Sporting Dogs. Please contact the Secretary if you can spare half a day with your dog to be there and talk to people interested in the breed. Of course, helpers get free access to the Fair!

Discover Dogs
Discover Dogs is run by the Kennel Club to give people the opportunity to see every breed of dog that is registered with the Kennel Club.

German Longhaired Pointers can be seen at Crufts at The N.E.C. Birmingham in March and at the Excel Arena in London in the autumn. Volunteers to man the stand are always welcome, so again, please contact the Secretary if you can help your Club by being there.
