German Longhaired Pointer Club events are sponsored

Field TrialsThe Club holds Field Trials, licensed by The Kennel Club, at various locations
around the country each year. Many of them are open to all the Hunt, Point,
and Retrieve breeds of dog. A schedule listing the trials is published
on the Membership/Forms page in June or July each year. Entry forms and
the Club Standing Instructions may be found on the same page.
Pointing TestsPointing Tests are normally held each spring. Results of these events can be seen on the Results Page. For details of forthcoming tests, please see the pointing test schedule. Working TestA Working test is arranged every year on the second weekend in July at Gill Mill, Ducklington Oxfordshire. Results of this event, when posted, can be seen on the Results page. Training DaysThe Club arranges one or two training days each October, depending on demand, for those members who wish to put the finishing touches to their dogs under field trial conditions. Entry is open to all members, though preference is given to GLP’s. Helpful instructors are on hand each day to give advice as necessary. These days are not a competition and dogs will not be eliminated. Handlers can expect a number of runs and up to two birds shot over their dogs. Details will be posted both here, on the Membership/Forms page, and in the Newsletter, inviting members to attend SeminarFrom time to time the Club runs a seminar on a topic related to German Longhaired Pointers. Details are posted both here and on the Membership/Forms page. The C.L.A. Game FairThe C.L.A. Game Fair is held annually in July or August every year in different locations around the country. The German Longhaired Pointer Club is asked to attend with dogs to take part in the Parade of Sporting Dogs. David Tomlinson provides the commentary. Please contact the Secretary if you can spare half a day with your dog to be there and talk to people interested in the breed. Of course, helpers get free access to the Fair! Discover DogsDiscover Dogs is run by the Kennel Club to give people
the opportunity to see every breed of dog that is registered with the
Kennel Club.
